he's not a protagonist but
"genre-savvy" no i want a genre-unsavvy protagonist. scratch that, i want a genre-deluded protagonist.
i want a protagonist who is convinced until the last possible moment that they're in a lighthearted romcom--despite the proliferation of slasher murders. give me a soccer dad who is just so determined to enjoy family vacation, despite the fact the kids summoned an eldritch deity from the lake. a preteen who is experiencing a coming-of-age saga and annoyed their parents aren't emotionally present (the parents are distracted by a literal zombie apocalypse). endless possibilities

if Rhys(and) is approximately 40 years older than Tamlin.
And He sought Tamlin out for a friendship. Tamlin had 2 adult fae after him at the same time.
Not only that but how old was Tamlin when Rhys(and)’s mother and sister were attacked?

replaying dav act 1 and the way i instantly prefer the minrathous route is wild sorry antiva 💀💀💀
#enjoying act 1 way more in general. i am RELAXED i am CRINGE i am FREE i already know what HAPPENS#but yeah lol i mean for my canon i'll leave it as is but dsjfhghj the compare and contrast of how i felt#with the viper vaguely writhing on a table versus lucanis being like 'i have no heart for anything but my city' is WILDDDDD#AND THE BLIGHTED CANALS. THE SPECTACLE OF IT#there were some good moments in the treviso arc for sure and i really like the arc with hardened neve. but u know#it does hurt cause i know how it could be. but i live for the drama of it and i'm very glad that i'm not losing access to everyone#(although that phantom cough is in there so we'll see how that develops. at the very least vi and teia are still there bantering)#idk. if i'm being real the crows were probably my biggest disappointment overall in the game lol#(not for the same reasons as everyone else- differences in their portrayal from dao is easily explained for me by the people we're hearing#from being literally the equivalent of royalty. imo there is way less retconning going on then just frankly narrowing of scope.#something not being mentioned doesn't mean it doesn't exist. but there's a lot i wish were mentioned! or landed better! anyways.#i did still like them overall! and i imagine playing a crow adds a little more connection there with teia and vi)#i think i will be way more satisfied with seeing them in more active turmoil#and to spend more time with the shadow dragons.#more tarquin more dorian more mae. that's a w from me#i do worry abt hardened lucanis from vague comments i've seen 😭 but again i live for the drama#it speaks#veilguard spoilers#vir dirthera

Summer Court Male Fashion
Today I was on Pinterest and was looking at pinboards for the summer court, and all the outfits in there were so generic European Medieval-centric or just fantasyesque, which is probably the fault of SJM bland Worldbuilding and fashion choices
So I decided to give The Summer Court, but specifically Tarquin, some West/South African inspired fashion

It's the first of June, y'all know what that means..
Welcome to the first chapter of my next generation ACOTAR fiction, A Witch A Warrior And A Reckoning, ACT 1- The Witch (link at bottom of the post)
Protagonists:
Dahlia Fairburn, General and Heir of Spring
Aisling Sapphirus, Healer of the Hewn City
Nyx Archeron, Son of the Witch
Relationships:
Dahlia Fairburn x Aisling Sapphirus
Nyx Archeron x Tamlin Fairburn
Azriel Shadowsinger x Eris Vanserra
Nuan x Lucien Vanserra
Original Azris Child(ren) x Tarquin
Summary
Life is peaceful for Dahlia Fairburn, running with her War Band, and commanding the Spring Court armies. Since the day she could wield a sword, she's been helping her father, along with her younger brother, to restore Spring to its former glory. Trying to ignore the festering magic in her body, that threatens to consume her.
One day, all that peace is threatened to be shaken, as a certain prince of Night asks for her to join the rebellion of the Hewn City and Illyria. From beneath the great mountains, an ancient song calls for her. She meets a woman with death in her eyes, and power in her veins, who makes Dahlia's blood boil while something clicks into place between them.
This new generation of Prythian was thought to be one of peace and prosperity. But the mask of the reigning High Lords begin to crumble, as secrets older than Prythian itself are uncovered, and darkness is unleashed.
An ACOTAR next generation fanfiction
I hope y'all have fun with this fic!

Was not expecting to be jumpscared by a casual mention of Order of the Stick while scrolling through a One Piece analysis blog, but I sure as hell ain't complaining
Since you were talking about Lord Byron and character tropes and seem well versed in them, do you think Blackbeard actually fits into the common tropes or has a parallel from another series? I can't think of a villain quite like him, from the way he was introduced, to how he's cowardly yet strong, making complex plans while admitting that luck is a major factor, and even benefiting from the type of luck usually reserved for the protagonist at times.
You don’t see a lot of villains like Blackbeard because you don’t see a lot of heroes like Luffy, and Blackbeard is Luffy pushed to his logical extreme. If we look at Luffy’s vendetta with the World Government being an example of Chaos vs Law, then Luffy and Blackbeard is Chaos vs Chaos. They’re foils of one another, Blackbeard being a dark mirror of Luffy in every way.
You see his type of scheming more often in stories about politics. They’re pretty different characters, but he reminds me a bit of General Tarquin from the Order of the Stick in that they both believe that they’re going to get their way because The Story says so (this is a little bit more literal in General Tarquin’s case, seeing as how OotS is a D&D satire comic, but the point stands).
His strong belief in destiny — and the universe seemingly bending over backward to fuel his rise to the top — reminds me a lot of various mythologies across the world, where even gods and titans were bound by the whims of the Fates. The grey vs grey morality of One Piece also fits that a little better than the more traditional Good vs Evil stories we see in the modern age.
In a way he reminds me of Loki from Norse mythology. Tricky, powerful, malicious...and if the series is headed to a world-shattering war — which by all indications it is — I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it was Blackbeard kicking off the One Piece equivalent of Ragnarok.

I like to think that Tarquin is to a Shadow Dragon Rook what Viago is to a Crow Rook
I love Rook's exasperated older brothers/dads

ACOTAR Characters favorite K-pop groups: (Part 3)
I'm bored and I can't sleep so I decided to combine two things that I love Kpop and Acotar. I chose the groups because of the vibe. I don't have much explanation.
Mor: Blackpink + Everglow (She loves Girl Crush concept)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Emerie: Stray Kids + ATEEZ (huge StayTiny)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tarquin: Kard (He loves their debut summer vibe songs)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Helion: New Jeans + Girls Generation (hard to find a group)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tamlin: Twice (He listens to them thinking about Feyre and crying)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the end, but I can make the same post with other books like TOG, Percy Jackson... or can make with other characters from Acotar.

Blackwood farm may be a kinda questionable entry in the vampire chronicles BUT that is only because it wasnt told in what its true medium shouldve been, an internet arg
#blackwood farm#quinn blackwood#tarquin blackwood#anne rice#for the record i dont say questionable entry because i dislike it#i say that because its a bit of an odd fit in the series#i actually fuck with it severely#unfortunately it might be the most rasict book in the series#wish anne hadnt put all of. that. in#annes one of the rare writers that makes you wish she tried to put less representation in cause of how bad she is at writing it#like and i dont even know how youd theoretically fix it to not be racist#like if amc for god knows what reason tried to adapt quinn blackwoods story to television#i have no clue how they would de-ick it#like of course theres the dialog that never shouldve been written#and then how do you deal with the. literal. black. servants.#cause like okay obviously theres writing you can improve with them#but like no amount of writing will fix it if theres still literally black servants on this white manor#do you make the blackwoods black too ala louis?#but like i feel like the blackwoods are like the whitest family ever written#i guess you could change things up and alter things to make it work#oh and then theres also the issue of quinns never had a non incestuous/pseudo-incestuous relationship in his life#oh i guess jasmine isnt incest but she has still known him his entire life and is like what 10 years older than him#but you know general audiences might not be too fond of that#its a good thing none of this will ever come up cause no ones ever gonna adapt blackwood farm into anything#sorry for rambling there#i just by far think the racism/racial stereotyping is the biggest problem with the book#and i think its kinda crazy when people critique the book for other little things when theres all of that to pick at#like ok. there isnt enough lestat in it. have you read some of the dialog between quinn and jasmine i think we have bigger problems here#like nothing else in the book was as uncomfortable to read#im like woah i can accept ghost twin incest rape but i draw the line at stereotyping
